Lucky to live Hawaii. One of the many things I LOVE about calling Hawaii my home is the people and friendships I have made. Unique to Hawaii, we honor our elders by calling them either “Auntie” or “Uncle”. And, if you’re really close to someone, but not related to them, you may call them hanai (foster or adopted).

Melissa’s hanai auntie and uncle, Laurie and Reverend Al Terry of Makena Weddings, coordinated and preformed this special event.
